Dear colleagues,

We have added information on visa requirements for Namibia and South Africa to the website for the 13th International Hibernation Symposium - www.ihs2008.com. To view the information, click on "Travel and accommodation" on the menu bar on the left of the main page, and then "Namibia visa requirements" or "South Africa visa requirements" on the submenu.

We will shortly be posting a draft program on the website, as well as information for presenters.

For those of you who are Google Earth fans, here are the coordinates for the conference venue, the municipal rest-camp (A-frame student accommodation), and Walvis Bay Airport:

Conference venue: 22°40'26.67"S 14°31'43.14"E
Municipal rest-camp: 22°41'5.15"S 14°31'38.31"E
Walvis Bay airport: 22°58'46.86"S 14°38'34.96"E

Finally, South Africa has been in the news for all the wrong reasons during the last couple of weeks. The incidents of violence that have made headlines have been largely directed at Zimbabweans and Mozambicans working in SA, and have been restricted to a small number of townships. At present, there is no reason to be concerned if you are planning on traveling in South Africa before and/or after the meeting.

Regards,

Barry and Andrew
